Highly Crystalline Oxidase-like MnOOH Nanowire-Incorporated Paper Dipstick for One-Step Colorimetric Detection of Dopamine

Developing a convenient detection method for dopamine holds significant incentive due to its high clinical significance. Herein, we synthesize crystalline MnOOH nanowires (MNWs) via simple solvothermal treatment of KMnO4 and demonstrate that they possess excellent oxidase-like activity owing the presence pure Mn3+ sites on MNWs. Particularly, MNWs catalyze rapid oxidation into aminochromes, which show vivid brown color. The follows typical Michaelis–Mentenkinetics with storage stability. Based affirmative catalytic features, paper dipstick incorporating in zone is constructed one-step colorimetric target dopamine. By immersing sample solution 30 min, spontaneously moves capillary force, yielding color proportional amount dopamine, quantified from an image acquired using smartphone. With MNW-containing solution-based assay MNW-incorporated dipstick, successfully determined selectivity, sensitivity, precision when spiked human serum pharmaceutical injection samples, respectively. Successful analytical values such as dynamic linear ranges 3–60 μM 0.05–7 mM are achieved respectively, along accuracy (95–99%) (1.0–3.1%). Hence, developed efficient nanozyme-based biosensor can be used point-of-care testing environments.
